Lead Support Professional/Job Developer

Description:Lead Support Professionals (LSP) provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities to allow them to reach their highest possible levels of independence and will promote an environment where teaching occurs at all times. The Lead Support Professional assists our clients in developing fun and rewarding life opportunities and helps them to build meaningful relationships within their communities. Job Developer provides individualized employment counseling, group vocational guidance services, and employment opportunities to program participants.

In this position, 25 hours will be spent on LSP duties, 15 hours will be spent on Job Development

Experience in the field is preferred, as is experience as an assistant manager or lead staff in a similar setting.

Duties:Summary of Essential LSP Job Functions (25hours):

•Exhibit clear, consistent emotional and professional boundaries and an ability to be appropriately assertive.
•Promote and teach self-advocacy skills.
•Promote independence.
•The ability to work with little supervision and as part of a team, participating creatively in problem solving.
•The ability to maintain a flexible schedule that suits the needs of the clients.
•The ability to understand and apply Oregon Administrative Rules to the position.
•The ability to understand the overall DD services delivery system and the role the program plays in that system.
•To ensure that supports provided are within funding guidelines. Document and communicate with management if more support is needed.
•Assist each client in maintaining their health, safety and highest possible quality of life and also serves as a liaison between each client and the available services of the community.
•Participate in ongoing assessments of the clients’ needs and goals; assists in creating individualized approaches to assisting clients with meeting their needs and reaching their goals.
•While working, the Lead Support Professional must inform their supervisor of their whereabouts at all times.

Summary of Essential Job Developer Functions (15hours):
•Provide problem solving, direct training, feedback and other services that will assist individuals with barriers to employment.
•Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about participants through records, testes and interviews to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for vocational planning.
•Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economic information to add participants in making and carrying out vocational objectives.
•Assists participants to understand and overcome social and emotional problems.
•Locates prospective employers through telemarketing and/or cold calls.
•Sets appointment and coordinates tours for participants, referral agencies, and prospective employers.
•Develops community work sites, job search and training programs through employer contacts and training, compatible with the needs and the abilities of program participants.
•Designs, negotiates and monitors job placements in integrated employment settings.
•Provides regular updates to referring agencies, other Alvord-Taylor staff, and supervisor.
•Meets with participants on a regular basis to provide employment counseling
•Provides on-going assistance to participation employers and assists participants in learning new job duties.
•Negotiates with employers to implement accommodations at the worksite.
•Conducts job task analysis for newly created employment opportunities in the community
•Conducts job task analysis for newly created employment opportunities in the community.
•Conducts job search classes for participants
•Develops resumes for participants
•Assists participant in completing employment applications
•Maintains participants contact records, reports, and case notes
•Maintains accurate employer contact records
•Participates in training and educational opportunities to enhance skills
•Attends regular department meetings. Attends other meetings as necessary
•Follows all policies, procedures, work rules, and safety standards.

Qualifications:Minimum Requirements
•A High School Diploma plus at least two years previous work with a vulnerable population. One year of volunteer experience with a vulnerable population may be substituted for one year of work experience.
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and be insurable by the agency’s carrier
•Must obtain and maintain, with agency assistance, certification in CPR, First Aid, and Oregon Intervention Systems (OIS)
•Must pass a criminal history check.
•Must meet employment requirements listed in the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs)
